Xin - Precaution

This song definitely pays homage to the music that I used to listen to during the 90s, especially Mariah Carey. I wanted something kind of smooth, airy, and clouded... kind of like a daydream. I tried to present that feeling as well as I could with the materials I had to utilize.

It is so inspired how the song happened. I had texted my brother: "I NEED A BEAT NOW FOR THIS SONG I'M WRITING." Told him how I wanted it to sound and he strung it together exactly how I had meant for it to sound. I had already written the first verse and hook before I had even heard the track, but the melody fit it perfectly. It is amazing how connected we are even while we are stationed in separate states (me at college and him back at home).

I believe this song is very relate-able, we all have been in relationships that have gone sour, and sometimes no matter how much we would like to hate someone, there are times when we simply cannot get that person off of our mind. So we find other things to do to occupy ourselves before we foolishly run to that person for a "fix." I do believe love is a factor here, but lust is the basis of this song. It is a physical greed for that person this character craves, so the character gives him/herself to other people to replace the old lover. So it's about substitution to fill a void that actually really isn't getting filled.
